A ride to Saca Mare

Last Saturday I was on one of the coolest and coldest rides ever. The idea was to do ride on this route but we soon realized it was to much for an autumn day. It was a bit cold but it wasn't so bad. The big problem is that it gets dark at about 5 pm.

I woke up early and packed everything.
After a short car ride we arrived to the starting point.
We got our gear and started the ride. After a few kilometers we already had to take off some of the clothes although it was pretty cold.
It was cold but nature is very beautiful in the cold to.
Soon we hit some ice on the road.
Then even more ice, where I had to jump off the bike for the first time.
Soon the water in my bottle started to freeze like the creek.
At the first food break we fixed a tire.
At the second break my chocolate was frozen :))
After that we stopped and took a look at some interesting rock called the Table Rocks.
The trees were beautiful, they remind me of Christmas.
We found some snow.
The view was...
The stats for the end of the climb:
 - distance: 26,11km
 - average speed: 9,3 kph
 - maximum speed: 33,1 kph
 - time: 2:47:42
The climb was very long and hard and the last few kilometers are very steep. Because of my lack of training and the cold I had some cramps :(

The view at above 1700 meters is breathtaking.
Because of the cold the battery from my camera died on the descent. The descent was long and cold and very hard because of the rocks. We decided to descend off road parallel with the paved road. After a few flat tires and some getting lost we got down to Sovata in the dark. After a short and painful ride I got to the car. The stats for the ride:

 - distance: 54,57km
 - average speed: 11,6 kph
 - maximum speed: 48,7 kph
 - time: 4:40:51

Grated cauliflower

Usually when I was writing a recipe I just posted a picture of the final product. Now I want to change this. When I'm looking for a recipe on the internet I like the recipes with a lot of pictures. From now on I will try to post a lot of pictures from the cooking process.

My first recipe described in this new fashion is Grated cauliflower in the oven. A long time ago I've made grated potatoes but now I had some fresh cauliflower at home.

The ingredients:
- cauliflower
- eggs
- sour cream
- garlic
- other vegetable (I've used carrots and green beans but you can use broccoli or peas to or any other vegetable)
- cheese
- salt, peeper and paprika

The first step is to boil the cauliflower:
This take about 10 minutes, you shouldn't cook the veggies to much because they will go into the oven later. It is a pity to throw away the water so you should use it to make soup, I made a very good veggie soup from it.

The next step is to mix the eggs with the sour cream and the garlic and season it with salt, pepper and paprika:
You can do this while the cauliflower is cooking. The you mix all the ingredients, there are a lot of recipes where they only use breadcrumbs and cauliflower but you can replace the breadcrumbs with some other vegetables:
Put cheese on top and cook it in the oven for about a half hour:

Another autumn ride

Saturday I went for a ride on the same trail as last week. The weather was great but I didn't dress properly so I had to go home. After I got some pants I went out on the tarmac to catch the others. After we regrouped the fun begun in the forest. I was feeling great, my back wasn't hurting so I was enjoying the descents. On the climb I was feeling the lack of training from the last few months but it was a nice ride. A few pictures:

Hamburgers

I was craving for a hamburger so I decided to make some burgers. So I fired up  my Singer grill from emag and cooked some burgers. I bought the patties from the store but I didn't like them very much, next time I will make my own or I will try the ones made from chicken meat.

While the meat was cooking I've cut the buns in 2 an put them on the grill to. I washes the lettuce, the tomatoes and pealed the onions. I didn't use mayo because that is just extra fat, I used only mustard and a bit of ketchup and some chili. My burger looked like this:

One of the coolest rides this year

Saturday I was on one of the coolest ride this year and the first ride in the forest this autumn. I didn't ride since the Neuzer bike party because my back was hurting and I wanted to recover. I was surprised how many people showed up Saturday morning (it was almost noon :D) on the side of the forest. The weather was great, the ground was dry so the conditions were perfect.

We started slow and there was a lot of talking and no racing. We also stopped for a few pictures:

talking on the phone
I will catch you
After a while we stopped to regroup and for a photo shoot:
explaining the route
still explaining
we found some oil so we lubed the chains
we spotted a huge wild boar
the beast
We were very lucky that the wild boar was scared and it run away. It was very close to us and it is a very dangerous creature.

After about an hour of riding I started to fell my back so I slowed down. When we reached the road I went home to rest :)

Stats:
 - distance: 19,88 km
 - time: 1:24:37
 - average speed 14,1 km/h
 - maximum speed: 44,8 km/h

This ride was a lot of fun and I hope I can get back in the forest soon :)
