Lasagna recipe

Lasagna (or lasagne) is Garfield's favorite food and one of my favorite dishes to. It is a relatively easy recipe but it takes some time to prepare it mainly because you have to make two sauces and then assemble it.

First you have to make a bolognese sauce like this:
put chopped onions and olive oil in a pot
after a few minutes add about 600 grams of ground meat (I prefer mixed ground meat, pig and beef), season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic
stir an cook until the meat gets brown
add tomato juice and/or whole tomatoes, season with oregano, basil,  rosemary and bay leaf
I added some frozen vegetables (corn, beans, carrots and peas)

Until the bolognese sauce is cooking (about 15 minutes) you can make the béchamel sauce:
put butter in a pot
when the butter starts to melt add flour and stir
add some milk
add milk and flour while stirring until you get the desired amount of sauce
season with pepper and nutmeg (very delicious and aromatic spice)
cook until the sauce thickens
The bolognese sauce
spread some butter in an oven pan
put one layer of béchamel sauce
and one layer of bolognese sauce
sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese
add one layer of lasagna pasta
Repeat these steps (béchamel sauce, bolognese sauce, parmesan, pasta) until you run out of sauces. Save some béchamel sauce to put on top of the last layer of pasta.
add  some cheese and some butter pieces on the top
cover it with a foil and put it in the oven for about 20-30 minutes, until the pasta gets tender  (check with a fork)
cut ii in small pieces and enjoy

Bon appetit!

A simple eggplant recipe

Usually eggplants are used in salads but they are delicious fried on the grill. I had some eggplants and I thought I should make some breakfast so I cut them in cubes and threw them in a pan:
After the cubes got brown I added some cheese:
After the cheese melted I added tomato sauce:
You can add some eggs also, but you can serve it like this:
Bon appetit!

Grated broccoli

A while ago I've made grated cauliflower, but last week I had a lot of broccoli in my fridge and I wanted to get rid of it :)

 The ingredients:
- frozen broccoli
- other vegetables (green beans, peas, carrots)
- eggs
- sour cream
- garlic
- cheese
- salt, peeper and paprika

The first step is to boil the veggies:
While the veggies are cooking mix up the eggs and the sour cream and season it:
Pour this mixture on the veggies, add the garlic to:
Put some cheese on top:
An then put the pot in the oven for about a half hour, or until the top gets that beautiful color:
Bon appetit!

Chili con carne

As I said before I am trying to improve my recipe posts with pictures from the making of. One of my favorite foods, both to cook and to eat, is chili con carne. It is very easy to make this chili and it is very fast too.

The ingredients:
 - ground meat (I usually use mixed, pork and beef meat)
 - onion
 - garlic
 - carrots
 - red pepper
 - sweet corn
 - kidney beans
 - olive oil
 - tomato sauce
 - chili
 - salt & pepper, oregano, basil and bay leaves

For the topping I use sour cream, cheese and fresh onions.
The first thing to do is to fry some onions in the olive oil. I used fresh carrots but it is faster if you cook the carrots separately in plain water.
Then you can add the meat, the salt and pepper, the garlic and the red peppers:
After the meat gets brown you can add the rest of the ingredients, first the tomato sauce to slow down the cooking:
Add the rest of the spices:
Then the corn and the beans:
While it cooks for about ten minutes you can prepare the toppings:
You can serve it without topping:
Or with the toppings which you like:
Bon appetit!

Scrap omlet

I just love making leftover omelet Saturday morning, I just look into the fridge and get everything out, everything I can mix with the scrambled eggs.
In this omelet I had some leftover sausages, grated parmesan, sliced olives and some cheese on top. And don't' forget the colorful pickles.
Eggs are a very good glue, you can mix everything you have in the fridge and make a beautiful and delicious meal :)

Grated cauliflower

Usually when I was writing a recipe I just posted a picture of the final product. Now I want to change this. When I'm looking for a recipe on the internet I like the recipes with a lot of pictures. From now on I will try to post a lot of pictures from the cooking process.

My first recipe described in this new fashion is Grated cauliflower in the oven. A long time ago I've made grated potatoes but now I had some fresh cauliflower at home.

The ingredients:
- cauliflower
- eggs
- sour cream
- garlic
- other vegetable (I've used carrots and green beans but you can use broccoli or peas to or any other vegetable)
- cheese
- salt, peeper and paprika

The first step is to boil the cauliflower:
This take about 10 minutes, you shouldn't cook the veggies to much because they will go into the oven later. It is a pity to throw away the water so you should use it to make soup, I made a very good veggie soup from it.

The next step is to mix the eggs with the sour cream and the garlic and season it with salt, pepper and paprika:
You can do this while the cauliflower is cooking. The you mix all the ingredients, there are a lot of recipes where they only use breadcrumbs and cauliflower but you can replace the breadcrumbs with some other vegetables:
Put cheese on top and cook it in the oven for about a half hour:
