I quit!

Monday I quit my job, I've been working there for about 3 years...
It was a strange feeling, even my voice left me when I wanted to say that I decided to leave. It was even stranger to go back to the office and pack my things. There was something interesting in the air... There are some colleagues who are happy that you found a new job that suits you better, these people can be called friends. There are so people who envy you because you found a better place and they have to stay, these are your enemies. And finally there are some people who are just curious, why are you leaving, where are you leaving, what are you going to do, how much will you earn...

It is a new experience, I have to work in a new place with new people. I hope that it was a good decision and I'll enjoy my new job :)

Have some fun on YouTube

Take a look at the “A Hunter Shoots A Bear” interactive YouTube takeover campaign from Tipp-Ex. You can use words like drug, f**k, eat, dance, ride, sing, shout, catch, play (I tried these but there are a lot more so let your imagination free) and you get funny response videos :)

What bank?

I was pleasantly surprised today when I went to change my debit card, my card expires at the end of the month. I had to sign a piece of paper and I got my new card. The old card was destroyed. I didn't think that it would be so quick to change a card :)

I like this bank because it eliminates the people to people contact (which sometimes can be annoying) by having some smart atms where you can put your money in your account. The other good thing about this bank is that they calculate the interest for every day not for every month like some other banks do, so you get some money for every day that your cash is in your account.

This is not a payed ad, that's why I didn't mention the name of the bank :)

The future is just around the corner

Visa Lets Transit Riders Pay Fare with Cell Phones - Beginning this week, New Yorkers won't have to pull out cash or credit to pay for their bus, subway, train or taxi fares. Instead, they'll be able to pay using their iPhones as part of a pilot program for Visa's payWave program, which allows users to make contactless payments.

Don't leave your car there

Yesterday I was walking by a bicycle parking spot and I saw a woman parking her car there. I've made a few pictures:
I saw policeman a few blocks away and I told them what I saw and I showed them the pictures. They went to investigate, I don't know what happened next but I hope they gave at least a warning to the woman :)

There is a site (Romanian site) were you can send pictures with cars parked on bike lanes or bike parkings and I've sent my pictures in. The site is called antibike.net and here is a screenshot with my pic:

The circus is in town

Saturday I went to the circus :D I wanted to go because I was a kid when I last saw the clown so I was curious. The show was ok, they were some acrobatic elements, a clown and lots of animals.
There were lots of animals, elephants, ponies, snakes, alligators rabbits, camels and a zebra . I liked the elephants :)

World Carfree Day

This is a very important week,  the European Mobility Week.

The European Mobility Week is an awareness raising campaign aiming at sensibilising citizens to the use of public transport, cycling, walking and at encouraging European cities to promote these modes of transport and to invest in the new necessary infrastructures.

From 16 TO 22 SEPTEMBER 2010 the Mobility Week is the opportunity for European cities and towns to participate to the most widespread event on sustainable mobility.
The overall aim of the European Mobility Week campaign is to encourage public awareness of the need to act against pollution caused by the increase in motorised traffic in the urban environment. In fact, it is not just a question of fighting atmospheric pollution or noise but also of improving the quality of urban life.

Accordingly, that operation is centred on three types of measures, designed to:
- encourage the use of alternative forms of transport and travel other than private cars,
- raise awareness and inform city-dwellers of what is at stake so far as concerns long-term mobility in towns and the risks connected with pollution,
- show the town in another light thanks in particular to reduced motorised traffic within restricted areas.

There are many important manifestations taking place all over the world. In this important week there is an important day, the World Carfree Day.

Every September 22, people from around the world get together in the streets, intersections, and neighbourhood blocks to remind the world that we don't have to accept our car-dominated society.
This morning I came to work before 8 and the traffic was terrible. I was on my bike but there were so many cars that I could barely come out to the main street and than I had to use the sidewalk because the road was blocked. If I would use a car or a bus to come to work it would take at least twice as long to get in :)

This weekend there is another critical mass in Targu Mures :)

Neuzer Bike Party 2010

Yes! This weekend I'm racing again, the Neuzer Bike Party is back in town. This is a great race in the forest near Targu Mures with the start and finish near the Zoo. I enjoyed the race last year very much:
Last year I've raced on the long (50km) course and I finished in 14th place in 3:12:18. Last year I got tired at about the half of the course so this year I will race on the short track (about 22km). I chose the short course because I'm tired and I was on the course last night and I liked it very much. Considering that I will ride just over an hour (if it doesn't rain - fingers crossed) I want to finish in the top ten :)

The course is great, with some hard climbs, some technical parts and some fast down hills so I'm looking forward to the race day.

Tusnad MTB Marathon

This weekend I'm going racing to Tusnad. I heard that it's a great marathon and I think it will be a good warm up for the races from this month :)
Here is a movie from last year:

I'Velo

There is a great project in the country, you can rent a bike for two hours for free. You only need an id card and you can take a bike for a ride. The program is called I'Velo and there are 4 places in Bucharest where you can find these bikes and 4 other cities in the country Targu Mures, Iasi, Cluj Napoca and Constanta.
The bikes are very basic city bikes but they are very comfortable. I had a lot of fun cruising in the city. So if you have some spare time don't hesitate to go for a ride :)
