Food matters is a very special movie (like The secret) were some scientists present the truth that that is not out there, it is not good for business if all the people know the things presented in this movie...

Eat chili!!!
I don't know why but I thought that chili is not healthy... I even wanted to reduce the amount of chili I am eating. Luckily somebody told me that chili is healthy. So I looked it up and surprise, chili has a lot of health benefits. It has a lot of vitamins (more vitamin C than oranges) and minerals and other good ingredients like capsaicin, which helps burn fat. Read about the health benefits of chili here and here or google it :)

Camper bike
Kevin Cyr, a painter and artist, has invented an unusual travel vehicle that is a fusion of elements from both the East and the West. Described as the Camper Bike, this unusual vehicle is inspired by both the American RV as well as the Chinese cargo-carrying tricycle.
The bicycle-pulled trailer was created in Beijing in April 2008 which was also the source of inspiration for the artist.

Water or Coke?
Why is coke bad for you? I've found a very good description:
Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.
I sometimes like to drink a little coke especially when I'm riding my bike. The sugar rush and the caffeine is good when you are exhausted but once I noticed that I was still thirsty even though I drank a lot of coke.
Drink water and not coke!

- In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
- 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)
- 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
- 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
- >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
- >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
- >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having theability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.
This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.
[tags] coke, effects, pharmacology, soda, caffeine, sugar [/tags]
*FYI: The Coke itself is not the enemy, here. It’s the dynamic combo of massive sugar doses combined with caffeine and phosphoric acid. Things which are found in almost all soda.

Calling 911
There is a time in a men's life when he has to call the emergency number, 112 (the same as 911) in my area :)
Saturday I went for a ride in the forest. I went on my favorite trail, to Terebici. It was a nice day, it wasn't cold at all. Before I got to the forest I had to go through some mud to. It was funny when I got to some ice. I was wearing my spd shoes and they are useless on slippery surfaces. The trail in the forest was ok (it was a mix of snow and ice), I didn't have to push the bike at all. Here are some of the pics from the road:
When I was returning I saw three guys cutting a tree. The forest is very ugly recently because of these people who are stealing. I got a little angry and I stopped. I was thinking what should I do... Then I went a little further and I wanted to call 112. I was looking to see what is happening. They stopped and started coming towards me. I've put the phone in my pocket and I didn't stop until I got out of the forest. Near the Zoo there is a police station (a box :D) and I told the police man what I saw. He suggested me to call the emergency number because he didn't have the proper car to go after the guys. So I called 112 and they promised that they will send somebody to investigate. I'm not sure that happened, but I hope I scared those guys and the tree survived :)
After this incident, on my way back to the city I saw a rabbit. That rabbit compared to the rabbits my father has at home was huge. This was the first time I saw a rabbit in the forest :D
Take care, and don't hesitate to protect the nature!
LE: All the pics here.
Stats:
- time: 1:33:51
- distance: 20,83 km
- avg speed: 13,3 km/h
- max speed: 38,4 km/h (this was very scary :D)

My training
The opening of this year's season is comming fast so I started training more and harder. Now I'm doing two rides on the trainer every week, two rides of one and a half hour. This week I was very happy because I passed the psychological barrier of 45 kilometer, the distance has increased above 46 km. My average speed is getting higher to, on Tuesday my average speed was 30,8 km/h and yesterday it was 30.7 km/h. I think that in a few weeks I will change the difficulty level of the trainer :)
Besides the trainer rides I try to get out in the forest every weekend at least once. Two weeks I started practicing again one of my other favorite sports, bodybuilding. I go every Saturday morning and do a good workout. This is good for having more strength in my hand and building some back muscles for the harder rides. Last weekend I bought ice skates, which is very good to tone the inner thighs and it is a lot of fun :)

HTML 5
HTML 5 is here! One of the best things in HTML 5 that you don't need to install Adobe Flash Player for watching videos. This is a great thing especially if you have a slow computer (like my laptop @ work). To test out this new feature you need Firefox 3.5, Google Chrome or Safari 4. Simply go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and click "Join the HTML5 Beta". To try out this new feature you can watch this video (watch it on YouTube if you want to see HTML 5 in action):

Alone in the snow
This Saturday the weather was very warm so I went for a ride. The trail was slippery, my rear tire kept digging in the snow, it was like riding in the sand. The downhills were fast and slippery so it was a lot of fun. I've hit a tree with my new handlebar, this was the first time I've hit a tree (Today I noticed that my handlebar is not straight :))) and one I had to jump off the bike (good thing i didn't go with the spd shoes) because it slipped way to much. It was a nice day and I was alone so I made a short photo shoot with my new handlebar ends. Here some pics:

The most complex and dangerous roads in the world
I think that the Transfagarasan is the best road in the world (because it is close and Top Gear said it to). But there are other masterpieces all around the world. Check out these roads: click here.
